After a cool swim with fellow water birds, a seagull is back on the bank of the Capitol Hill reflecting pool.
The fascinating colors adorning wings and body of the bird glistened under the late afternoon sun on Sunday, as temperature climbed down gradually from 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
The reflection of blue skies in the pool water further accentuated the colorful feathers of the bird.
Photographer Muhammad Ali got quietly close enough to the bird to capture a relaxing repose of the seagull on the bank, while other birds also sat nearby but under the lengthening shadows of trees.
“I was thrilled to take the picture but I did not know it would be so clear and rewarding,” Ali said.
