Washington metro area had its first snowfall of the season on Saturday, with accumulation forecast to be between one to four inches varying in different parts.

By early afternoon the snow was bedecking grass, plants and trees while roads in most areas were clear for traffic in D.C. Maryland and Virginia. Freezing winds blew across the region.

The first wintry flush beginning Saturday morning marks a return to normal weather after relatively drier and warm winters over the last two years.
