Mine is shunning the ultra-processed food in favor of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Scientists have come with their latest warning against consuming the ultra-processed food in a study reported b Science Daily.
The ever-ready and easily available foods just need heating before eating.
Such food items are described as industrially made with ingredients extracted from foods or synthesized in laboratories and have little or no whole foods in their composition.
They have become a part of the fast-paced lifestyle, where people strive for a good quality of life but end up compromising the quality of their daily intakes.
Such foods are often taken as alternatives to traditional foods and meals, which are cooked from fresh and minimally processed ingredients.
An evaluation of data from nationally representative dietary surveys and mortality data from eight countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, United Kingdom, and United States reveals that ultra-processed foods are to blame for premature.
The reason being the consumption of such foods increases the risk of early deaths significantly corresponding their share in individuals’ total energy intake.
The study appears in American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
So, what is the way out. No time to cook or go for natural minimally processed foods.
Two things, I believe, can be helpful. One increased individual awareness that no matter how much you exercise or how careful you are in your lifestyle, the ultra-processed food will foil every thing aside and take a toll on consumers.
Second, as the study reinforces, there is a need to amplify the calls for global action to reduce UPF consumption. As noted by Science Daily, such an effort needs to be supported by regulatory and fiscal policies that foster healthier environments.
