Indian missile strikes hit several sites in Pakistan and its side of Kashmir late Tuesday night, killing three people and injuring another 12, Pakistani army said.

Pakistan military’s media wing said the Indian strikes in the early hours of Wednesday targeted Kotli, Bagh and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir known as Azad Kashmir, Bahawalpur, Muridke.

The Inter Services Public Relations said soon after 1 a.m. Wednesday, “some time ago from now, the cowardly enemy India launched air strikes on Subhanullah mosque in Bahwalpur’s Ahmed East area, Kotli and Muzaffarabad at three places from the air.”

India has named its offensive as “Operation Sindoor,” and claimed that it hit nine targets.

The Director General ISPR said, “all of our air force jets are airborne. “

“This cowardly and shameful attack was carried out from within India’s airspace. They were never allowed to come and intrude into the space of Pakistan.”

He vowed a telling Pakistani response to Indian actions.

“Let me say it unequivocally: Pakistan will respond to this at a time and place of its own choosing. This heinous provocation will not go unanswered.”

He added, “this temporary happiness that India has achieved with this cowardly attack will be replaced with enduring grief.”

According to India media reports the Indian military claimed it targeted at least nine sites “where terrorist attacks against India have been planned.”

“Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistan military facilities have been targeted,” the Indian military said
