Amid renewed tensions over trade, President Doland Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will soon have a telephonic conversation to discuss trade concerns between the two largest world economies.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday President Trump and Xi will speak this week.
Last week, Trump accused Beijing of violating the agreement on a 90-day pause on the high trade tariffs the two countries had imposed on each other. Trump implied that he would no longer play Mr. Nice Guy with China.
“The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US,” Trump posted. “So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!” Trump said.

The U.S. president said Beijing had broken the agreement roll back the tariffs and trade restrictions for critical minerals.
Trump said in the Oval Office that he will speak with the Chinese president and “hopefully we’ll work that out.”
On Monday, China hit back at Trump’s accusation and said Washington had breached the 90-day truce.
Trump last month hailed the agreement with China as a reset.
He reduced his 145% tariffs on Chinese goods to 30% for 90 days to allow space for talks.
China ratcheted down its taxes on U.S. goods from 125% to 10%.
On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also revealed that the two leaders would speak soon to resolve the mutual trade issues.
