Virginia Senator Tim Kaine said to be on Clinton’s VP shortlist

Senator Elizabeth Warren and Housing Secretary Julian Castro also being vetted

Virginia Senator Time Kaine is said to be on likely Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s shortlist for vice president pick.

The two other politicians being vetted on the shortlist include Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Housing Secretary Julian Castro of Texas, AP and The Washington reported, citing unnamed Democratic sources.

Democratic lawyer Jim Hamilton is running the vetting process in consultation with Clinton campaign chairman John D. Podesta and outside adviser Cheryl Mills, a longtime Clinton family confidant, a Post news story says.

Over the last decade, Kaine has risen steadily as a leading Democrat, serving as Virginia governor from 2006 to 2010. He became Democratic senator in 2012. He was among top prospective candidates to run as President Barack Obama’s mate for 2008 election campaign. He was also chairman of the National Democratic Committee between 2009 and 2011.

Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign and the prospective candidates have been tightlipped, choosing not to be part of speculations on the issue.

Questioned if he was being vetted, Senator Kaine silently winked at reporters, according to the Post.

Reports also suggest that Hillary Clinton might declare her VP pick just near the Democratic convention next month.
