Muslim ban proposal back on website; Spokesman says Trump not to ban all Muslims

The plan disappeared briefly from campaign website after Trump's election win

Donald Trump’s controversial plan to ban Muslims from entering the United States, which disappeared from his campaign website immediately after his election, has been restored.

Trump had called for the plan in December 2015, following attacks in San Bernardino, California.

The removal of the plan from the website prompted speculations whether the Trump White House would proceed with his proposal – criticized on the campaign trail by American leaders including Republicans.

Then Thursday the reappearance of the proposal, after what Trump’s staff characterized as a technical glitch, led to more speculations on the issue.

“The website was temporarily redirecting all specific press release pages to the homepage. It is currently being addressed and will be fixed shortly,” the campaign told the Washington Post.

On Thursday, during a visit to the Capitol Hill for meetings with Congressional leaders, the president-elect walked away from reporters who asked him whether the plan to ban Muslims remained on his agenda.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Donald Trump insisted the US President-elect doesn’t want to ban “all” Muslims from entering the United States despite the fact that his own campaign website still calls for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

“We never said ‘all’ Muslims,” Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung told USA TODAY Thursday night.

Trump’s position on Muslim immigration has been vague in recent months after Vice President-elect Mike Pence told CNN in October that he was no longer calling for a ban on Muslims.

“Well, because it’s not Donald Trump’s position now,” Pence said during an Oct. 6 appearance on CNN’s New Day.

Recently, Sajid Tarar, a Pakistani American Republican leader of interfaith coalition for Trump, told Views and News that the ban proposal has been replaced by “extreme vetting” of intending immigrants.

Very well written story. And balanced too. What hus Spokesman is saying now is the reality. He is President-elect and tthat is the reality. He is representing Republicans and can not do anything without Congress approval where Republicans are in Majority. There were lot of check and balanced on Muslims from certaincountries including Pakistan right after 9/11. But Republicans were in majority that time too. I believe he will be tough against Illegal immigrants not against legal process. Only Congress has authority to amend laws and Congress does not make laws on religion basis. He is going to run Oval office and like others, He will do his best with support from Congress to make this country Great like always.
