Trump vows to defend travel ban; to issue new executive action next week

Says no chaos, White House working like fine-tuned machine

President Donald Trump Thursday vowed to fight for his administration’s currently Court-frozen travel ban order, and said he would issue a new “very comprehensive order” next week.

The president did not reveal any of the details about the new executive action and termed the Courts’ blocking of last month’s travel ban on citizens of seven Middle Eastern and African countries as “incorrect and unsafe.”

“We are appealing that and we are going further,” Trump said at a White House press conference in reference to January 27 Executive Order banning entry of citizens from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya and Yemen.

“We’re issuing a new executive action next week that will comprehensively protect our country. So we will be going along the one path and hopefully winning that at the same time we will be issuing a new and very comprehensive order to protect our people.

“That will be done sometime next week, toward the beginning or middle at the latest,” Trump said of the new action.

The Justice Department, meanwhile, has requested the full 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to hold off any further hearing on the travel ban issue until President Trump issues the next action.

Trump defended his administration in the wake of controversies over National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s resignation.

“This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine,” Trump said, dismissing news reports about chaotic beginning of his administration.

Trump also refuted reports of contacts between his campaign and Russia.
