Trump says US to deal with North Korean nuclear threat alone if China doesn’t help

North Korea has provoked regional countries and the United States with threatening moves

The United States will be prepared to act alone to resolve North Korea’s nuclear issue if China does not help Washington, President Donald Trump said amid Pyongyang’s nuclear posturing and ahead of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.

“If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will,” Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Pressed to clarify if America will deal with the North Korean threat on its own in the event of Beijing not helping it, Trump said: “totally.”

“China will either decide to help us with North Korea or they won’t,” Trump remarkd.

“If they do, that will be very good for China, and if they don’t, it won’t be good for anyone.”

North Korea has recently ratcheted up its threatening posture, carrying out missile threats and is now possibly preparing for another nuclear testing.

Although Beijing has asked Pyongyang not to take any provocative steps, the North Korean regime has stuck to its policy of intimidating South Korea and Japan, even claiming to have developed missiles that could reach the United States
