President Donald Trump Tuesday said he has confidence in Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, telling reporters at the White House that he does not believe in undercutting people.
“Yes,” Trump answered when questioned at the Oval Office if he had confidence in Tillerson.
Trump spoke before a meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
The president also rejected suggestion that he tried to undercut his top dipomat with his Twitter messages opposing Tillerson’s direct communication with North Korea.
“No, I didn’t undercut anybody. I don’t believe in undercutting people,” Trump said.
According to an NBC News report, the two had differences and that in July Tillerson hadd threatened to resign after calling Trump a “moron.”
But at a Press Conference, Tillerson brushed aside the report.
Trump doubted in an interview with Forbes that Tillerson had spoken of him that way but added if the report is true the two should compare IQ tests to who is smarter.
