The joy of capturing the New Year’s sun

Asim Tanveer's labor of love in photographing the first rising sun of 2021

These days it is foggy over most parts of the central and southern Punjab in Pakistan’s largest province.

But I must try to catch a glimpse of the first rising sun of 2021, the new year that comes after a dark 2020.

So I got up early in the morning at 5 a.m. and weathered the three-degree centigrade cold in Multan.

With a prayer in my heart, I went out with my camera ready to capture.

Thankfully, it did not take me long when I reached near a cluster of trees with vast agricultural fields in the background.

And there was the sun, the New Year’s sun.

I quickly moved all over the place and was able to get some clicks before fog began to hide the sun.

I felt so lucky that flying birds came into view in one of the images.

I wish all friends a Happy New Year 2021, with lots of better things than we had last year.
