Trump ratchets up Muslim ban stance

Says as president he will ban immigratioin from regions source of terror against United States

Ratcheting up anti-immigrant rhetoric, Donald Trump has said, as president he would stop immigration from regions with “proven history of terrorism against the United States,” as he apparently sought to expand his previous proposal on blocking Muslims from coming into the country.

Speaking after the deadliest shooting in American history, which claimed 49 lives in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, the likely Republican presidential nominee said:

“The Muslims have to work with us,” Trump said in New Hampshire.

“They know what’s going on. They know that [Orlando gunman Omar Mateen] was bad. They knew the people in San Bernardino were bad. But you know what? They didn’t turn them in. And you know what? We had death and destruction,” the billionaire businessman added.

The Washington Post- pointing out a series of contradictions in Trump’s remarks like squarely blaming Muslims for the attack while completely ignoring the fact that the shooter Omar Mateen was a New York-born US citizen – termed his speech as “laden with falsehoods and exaggeration.”

The real estate tycoon – who devastated his Republican rivals with unusual attacks in the primary season- also attacked Democratic leaders, implying they are not doing their job of protecting Americans.

“We need to tell the truth also about how radical Islam is coming to our shores,” Trump said. He added: “We need a new leader. We need a new leader fast. . . . They have put political correctness above common sense, above your safety and above all else. I refuse to be politically correct.”
